Annually, only a third of the 50 million tonnes of general waste in South Africa ends up being recycled, whilst the remainder is disposed of in landfill sites, dumpsites, and the environment.

Diverting waste from landfill is a key imperative for the country’s National Waste Management Strategy (2020). South Africa’s strategy for diversion of waste from landfill is based on building a secondary resources economy around the valorisation of waste as part of the circular economy.

WE RECYCLE is committed to playing its role in ensuring that it diverts as much of this waste to places where it can either be reused / repurposed, recycled and or responsibly discarded.
